My Top 10 Flips of 2025

Let's take a look at some of this years insane sales.

Issue #99

As the year comes to an end we must reflect on the year that was. For Flip Weekly, a lot happened. Let’s take a quick look at what we were able to achieve and what I’m most proud of:

  • 1 Issue every single week, not a single one missed.

  • 165,450 words at an average of 3,309 per Issue (up from 2,762 last year).

  • 1,400,000 video views on TikTok.

  • From 1,000 to 7,000+ followers on Instagram.

  • Average sale price rose from $72.37 to $115.35.

  • Total sales rose by 87.7%.

  • Launch of Flip Weekly’s Podcast.

  • 1 podcast episode per week without fail.

  • 45 episodes consisting of 44 hours, 55 minutes.

  • Average episode length of 59 minutes, 55 seconds.

These are all random stats, but when we put it into context I think it sounds pretty cool. The average Flip Weekly subscriber, of both the newsletter and podcast receives on average every single week a long-form reseller focused article and a commutes worth of audio. Over a full year that’s close to 200,000 words and 45 hours of audio. Or if we break it down even more… 3 full length books and an audio book length podcast series. I get we’re not producing New York Times best seller stuff but I think it’s still pretty cool.

Let’s review the top 10 flips of 2025 and see what we’ve learnt this year.

My Top 10 Flips of 2025

Here we go, counting down the best sales of 2025. The thing I find crazy about the 10 flips below is that if we compare it to 2024, last years number 1 sale wouldn’t even break the top 5 for this year.

#10 - The Art of Oddworld Inhabitants

$5 into $450.

Found in a thrift shop for just $5. Sold in what was less than 1 week for $450. We have had a lot of success this year with books, in fact they’re my #2 category. It’s a bit of a surprise considering I’d estimate my book knowledge to be… less than impressive. The category of the above book falls within “the making of / the art of“ which can net you big money.

Watch me find this book on Instagram here.

#9 - Bosun Bill Beenleigh Rum Jug

$7 into $500.

Off memory this thrift store mug sold in less than 48 hours for full price. I remember the buyer basically beginning me to insure it because of a poor experiences in the past. Since finding this mug in August I’ve been keeping a keen eye on other alcohol related collectibles but I’ve found nothing that compares to this insane find.

#8 - StarCraft 64 (N64 PAL)

Bought in a huge bundle to $520.

The most expensive Nintendo 64 PAL game of all time. Off to Italy. I paid $550 for a huge Nintendo 64 bundle from a Buyer who had no idea what they had. Her original Facebook Marketplace listing basically said exactly that, and because of that reason she was getting inundated with messages. I didn’t try and lowball her, or convince her that the bundle was full of crap. $550 was what I paid and the total listed value was $2,504.90.

You can read more about the pick up here.

#7 - PS2 Pink Limited Edition

$200 into $550.

A big sale but I’m not exactly proud of it. We turned $200 into $550. Big deal. I was punished for this flip, the buyer kept this as a Christmas present and upon opening it, the console worked for 15 minutes and then died. Not much I could do considering everything was working prior to shipping. A full refund was given. Damn.

#6 - Montblanc Ingrid Bergman “La Donna” Special Edition

$35 into $650.

This one blew my mind. The op shop knew they had a pen in the cabinet that was worth close to $1,000 yet decided to price it at just $35. Insanity! It honestly surprised me that this sold as fast as it did, I knew it was valuable but I didn’t think a buyer would come along so quickly.

#5 - Early Blythe Doll “All Gold In One” (Takara BL-4)

$5 into $711.

I still remember this day yet the sale felt like years ago. This Blythe doll was just laying on the floor of a Vinnies. I picked it up because the comps were all over the place. The cashier commented on her blue eyes. I put it up for auction and it sold a week later for $711. Since then I’ve always looked for dolls with giant eyes and string attached to the backs of their head.

#4 - WWF Attitude Superstars 1999 Sticker Book + stickers

$150 into $850.

A Facebook Marketplace deal that no-one else took a shot at. It was listed for several days. I had this kit as a kid and decided to buy it based on a comp of just the sticker book for close to $500. Eventually sold a month or two later for close to $1,000 to a cast member of Pawn Stars.

Read more about it here.

#3 - The Ringing Cedars (Complete 9-book series)

$36 into $900.

I remember this exact day, I paid $36 in total at a Save The Childrens Op Shop. I had my lucky charm with me and it didn’t take long for these books to sell for almost $1,000.

#2 - Kings Quest 1-4 Big Box PC Games

$12 into $1000.

These are the kinds of deals you live for when you’re op shop hunting. Old school, big box PC games mistaken as board games. Priced at just $3 each we bought the entire lot, then sold 4 Kings Quest games for $1,000. The sale didn’t take long.

#1 - Sonic The Hedgehog Archives Vol. #0–#20

$60 into $1,600.

My biggest flip of all time. I recorded this flip and put it on social media where it’s since received half a million views. We paid $3 per book for a bundle of 20 Sonic comics. Half a year later they sold for $1,600. The best thing about this sale was that it resulted in a social media that has received over 600,000 views.

Thank you to everyone who has been following along with Flip Weekly for the past 99 weeks, I hope you’ve gotten something out of it. Let’s make 2026 a great year, I’ll see you next week.
