Taking A Short Break Away From Thrifting
Op shops have been the last thing on my mind lately.

Issue #114
I’ve got a short one for you this week. I’ll tell you about a short break away from thrifting, what has sold over the past week plus an update on the Goosebumps Whatnot show.
Oh, and I didn’t end up getting scammed from that WWE Facebook Marketplace pick-up 2 weeks ago. The lady delayed for a few days until I backed her into a corner and pried the $450 from her fingers - I go into it more on the podcast.
Let’s jump into it.

A Break from Thrifting
For the past 2 weeks my partner and I have been chilling and living life.
Mountains of food and drink, places we’ve never been before, sleeping in dingy motels and stealing their single ply toilet paper, swimming in the ocean until we’re drunk on seawater, renting boats and running them aground, driving until the car’s engine light comes on, accidentally booking flights for the wrong dates without travel insurance.
Good times.
With us making the most of the Easter holidays, op shops have been at the back of the mind. I love thrifting, making sales, writing and telling you what’s been bought and sold, but at the end of the day I know what my priority is.
Usually I’d be seeking that dopamine hit you get from a killer find but you don’t need that when you’re with somebody that gives it to you naturally.
Anyway, enough of that.
What I Sold
Let’s start off with a 30 day sell through rate.

$30 into $150.
Found on Marketplace for $30, this 1970’s Matchbox loopdeloop was missing the most important piece (the car) but still sold for $150. It’s off to New Zealand where I have to figure out how to package this thing without costing me an arm and a leg.
What’s the most expensive book you’ve ever sold?

$4 into $190.
This $4 into $190 Adventure Time book has to be in my top 10. It’s taken a tiny bit to sell but I’ll continue picking up obscure Adventure Time items if they’re going to sell for over $100.
$4 into $95 for this next DVD.

$4 into $95.
There’s only 2 seasons of this 80’s Aussie TV show and it caps out at $100. Decent pick-up but not a home run.
I couldn’t resist picking up these next 2 items that were completely free and just up the road.

Completely free into $140.

Free with the VHS into $60.
They’re not exciting pick-ups but if a couple of hundred dollars is just going to fall into my lap I’m not going to shoo it away.
Both units were working and sold for full price. The BluRay player in 12 hours and the VHS player in 4 days. $0 into $200 in 96 hours.
This next sale was for a Street Sharks bundle on Facebook Marketplace.

Sold all 3 of these Street Sharks for $200 on Marketplace.
We’re going through these figures, we’ve only got 9 left worth approximately $1,300.

$6 into $76.

$20 into $95.
Holidays are over for now, we’ll be back to thrifting content next week.
Another Goosebumps Update
If you haven’t joined Whatnot, do so by clicking here and you’ll get free credit.
The last Goosebumps update I gave you was that everything was “back on track.“
Apparently not.
The parcel has gone from facility to facility, all the while being less than half an hour from its intended destination. Australia Post hasn’t been much help.
The Goosebumps collection was sent off from Sydney to Melbourne on the 30th of March with an intended auction date of April 15th. The date has been and gone so the auction has been pushed back to the 21st of April, 7pm.

Make sure you download Whatnot, follow Retro Rescuers and bookmark the show, it should be a fun and profitable night. If you don’t know how to do that, watch this short video. Hopefully by this time next week I’ll have a full rundown for you.
If you want to see more of the items that will be auctioned off, you can check them out in Issue #112.
I know it’s been a short one, but stay tuned for next week where we’ll (hopefully) have the results of the Goosebumps show. See you then!
Mat.
