This 9 Part Book Series Was Bought For $36 And Sells For $1,000

I spent 5 minutes in the thrift this week and walked out with a home run.

Issue #63

What’s up guys, Mat here and this week I’ve got a short one for you but it’s still filled with an amazing find and plenty of sales. My life outside of thrifting is hell busy this month so there will be no podcast but don’t give up on Flip Weekly, we’ll be back to normal very soon. In the meantime, let’s get straight into it.

In This Issue

What I Bought

This week I spent a grand total of 5 minutes in the thrift hunting for something cool to talk about and bloody hell did I hit a home run.

Each book was priced at just $4.

In a teeny tiny op shop I saw numbered books from what appeared to be the same series on the shelf and it caught my interest. We have books 1-9 of a series called The Ringing Cedars. Anytime I can find a series of books in sequential order and complete it’s worth me looking up and I’m glad I did. It’s by a Russian author named Vladimir Megre and from what I can tell it’s a spiritual series covering a lot of different New Age topics. The author has since passed away and the popularity of the books combined with them being out of print has comps incredibly high, take a look.

It’s not rare to find the series selling for over $1,000!

The sell through rate for these books is also really good at 85% meaning the books should sell within 90 days. I paid a total of $36 and have listed them up for $1,000. If you’re ignoring books, you’re ignoring what could be huge paydays.

Note: you can watch me find these books on Instagram here or on TikTok here.

What I Sold

7 months turnaround time for this duffel bag.

In Issue #35 I paid $7.99 for this United Colors of Benetton duffel bag from the 80’s/90’s and it has sold for $200! This bag caught my eye just solely based on the colorblock style and it turned out to be a good brand with a collectors market.

Bought on November 29, sold on April 23.

In Issue #43 I found this really cool Stranger Things prop at a Savers thrift store for $15. It’s an old walkie talkie that was featured in the TV show so people now use it for cosplaying. It didn’t even work but has sold for $100!

$20 into $80.

Pop culture chess sets always sell well and if you’ve been following for a while you’ll know I’ve bought and sold a few in my time. This was a Fallout set and it sold really quickly for $79.95. Unfortunately I paid up for it, I spent $20 so after all fees and post I don’t make much but just know that pop culture chess sets = quick return on investment.

I’ve always gotten lucky with plush, and this 2003 Donkey Kong was sold for $99.95 when I only bought him in December for a couple of dollars.

That’s all I’ve got for you this week I’m afraid. Regular scheduling will return in around 2 weeks but in the meantime, if you haven’t listened to the podcast yet, check it out, there’s already hours and hours of content to listen to. See you next week!
